Jarabacoa
A town in La Vega province, Jarabacoa has some of the most captivating natural attractions in the island. Located high in the mountains, it is known for its lower temperatures. It has been characterized as, "The City of Everlasting Spring," and the place where God sleeps. The local economy is based on agriculture such as growing coffee, strawberries, pimento and ajà pepper.

Things to do

-
River-raft in El Rio de Yaque: It is a must to raft the longest river in the Dominican Republic! Sections named 'Mike Tyson' and 'The Cemetery' are class 5 rapids. If you're lucky it will flip over your raft, dumping you in a sea of rock-infested water. This can not be done without a proper guide, so doing it on your own is not recommended. Rancho Baiguate does tours for $50 with breakfast, snack and lunch included.
-
Visit the three waterfalls: Jimenoa Uno, Jimenoa Dos y Baiguate: The thundering power of these three waterfalls is magnificent. The hike down to Jimenoa Uno is a little scary but once you see the view of the waterfall it's like being in Jurassic Park. Wait, this was one of the locations chosen for a scene in the movie. Jimenoa Dos is my favorite because of the suspension of bridges, which makes the scenery romantic and exhilarating. Admission is 100 pesos. Salto Baiguate is the more calm of the three but a great place to take a dip.
-
Learn about coffee processing in the Monte Alto coffee factory: Monte Alto is a small coffee factory that offers an informative tour around the grounds. At the end, a tasting is given, gearing you to buy loads of organic or regular coffee that is only made in Jarabacoa. Admission: 50 pesos
-
Relax at the Japanese park: In 1956, dictator Rafael Trujillo agreed to take in Japanese refugees and occupy Trujillo's residence of "Paradise of the Caribbean." The Japanese park on La Callecita is a stamp of their presence.
-
Day trip to Constanza: Ride the local way on the back of a pick-up truck, standing up, feeling the wind while driving the new, curvy road up the mountain. Make sure to catch the guagua early. Last one from Constanza back to Jarabacoa leaves at 3pm.
-
Climb Pico Duarte: Highest mountain in the Caribbean. Due to its well-maintained system of trails, it is possible to reach the summit in a 3-day excursion.

Venue Bar and Lounge: A wild wild west exterior with a modern and trendy twist inside. You wouldn't expect to walk into such swag: red leather couches, a full stock premium liquor bar and private VIP areas but it sure is such a pleasant surprise.
-
La Taberna de Jarabacoa: A tapas restaurant with outdoor seating and a great selection of wines is a great place for afterwork or any special celebration. Plaza la Confluencia, 809-364-9371
-
Parque Duarte at night: Do like the locals do: grab 'un doble Presidente,' sit on one of the park benches and 'haga un coro!' The locals blast music from their cars, drink beer, dance and laugh until the early hours. It's the cheapest and most sociable nightlife in town. Why not?
-
AK Bar: Located on the corner across the street from Parque Duarte, this small bar is the local hangout spot everyone goes to meet people, dance and drink. Calle Duarte

Party all day Sunday and holidays at the river: Dominicans are all about fun and relaxing, This is very evident in Jarabacoa, especially on Sundays and holidays, when locals go to la Guaza river to drink, dance and bathe in the water.
